Cloth for a power wetting toddler - help!

DS2 is 2 and 1 month and has recently started saturating his nappies. He can out wee a bamboozle in less than three hours on a good day which is not very practical considering I would like to occasionally leave the house and not carry a mountain of nappies and trousers with me. Sooo, I was thinking that I could maybe buy a set of Size 3 tots to last us the next 6 months (unfortunately potty training is not on his agenda at the moment or I would be doing that). I have never seen a size 3 in the flesh so to speak and have some questions. DS2 is only 28 lbs but as I have said the absorbancy is an issue for us and also the wraps are wicking (use motherease) as they don't seem to cover the nappy well any more, would I be best with nippa size 3s and some rikki wraps in an XL? Are size 3s really huge and do trousers fit over them? Would the aplix ones be worth considering for speed (I haven't used 2 piece nappies much for ages and am more used to pockets) and would it be too bulky and uncomfy for him if I put aplix wraps over the top? Also, one last thing, numbers - how may nappies would I need, 10? I was also thinking of getting some easy peasy bumpers for night (2 I think) and have already got a couple of large fuzzis and a few other large pockets that fit well which would do for quick changes etc.

Sorry this is a long post and I'm rambling. I'm going to go and bath the kids now but will be back later if anyone has any thoughts I would be most grateful .

ermmmmmmmmmm am struggling here - is like a square of material like padded with three prefolded lines down it to fold into a pad that then sits ina wrap

NappiesGalore · 25/08/2007 21:26

nappyzone · 25/08/2007 21:39

ahhhh.

angus does seem to be drinking his own bodyweight each hour atm... is there a nappy combo you would recommend for nighttimes?? (which would of course include my delicious wooliwrap shorts )

nappyzone · 25/08/2007 22:22

im experimenting very much in this area! my fave is still a minki stuffed with a hemp and a microfibre although just been using bimbles with same boosting in it and now my wool wrap which is perfecto! Got some new stuff on its way to try too including greenkids. I love slender nappies which is a hurdle for me as night nappies are so darn big! willbe triaing my greenkids overnight tomorow provided the bamboo insert ever drys!

GlassesofwineGalore · 25/08/2007 22:38

with the wool cover?

(i can see another purchase coming on! )

nappyzone · 25/08/2007 22:42

? greenkids ewont be with wool cover no as there a pocket nappy so not necessary - there more a day nappy but they claim to work overnight so i have to test the truth! bimble with a wool cover - i like em as they have a pocket you can boost for nightime and then yeah lash on your wool cover!!! wool is super - like the name change - mine should now be fostersnappyzone! i need to go to bed!

GlassesofwineGalore · 25/08/2007 22:47

me too.

Just thought I'd quickly update this thread to say that we struggled on with extra boosting whilst on holiday to no avail and so promptly ordered some new tots with rikki wraps on our return. They are brilliant so far and seem to be coping really well with the mammoth wee-er. I have also held on to my bumbles for the time being as we ordered a bumper and it was huge! I think it could have fitted me actually. The bigger wraps have definitely helped too - there doesn't seem to be much difference between the width of the large and xl wraps but the rise is much taller.

NappiesGalore, how are you getting on with your cloth? We use a wool cover at night which has improved matters greatly.

is this the wrong thread to ask? watched supernanny the other day, and my ds is nearly 3, and he only wears training pants at night! he goes to the toilet b4 bed, but still wets himself! Shoul i remove the nappy now and let him wet himself and go to the toilet at night and put down a plastic undersheet! sooo confusing when to do it or how 2?

Minki huggle with 2 boosters works for us.
