Gaviscon advice please

After a bit of back and forth GP has prescribed gaviscon for my 12wo. We go back in 2 weeks for a weigh in and progress check.
I'm to put one sachet in 2 feeds a day. She is bottle fed HIPP organic through Dr brown's bottles, size one teat. We have on average 5/6 feeds a day but I make 5oz bottles and she usually only takes 4 (possibly due to the reflux, she is dropping down the weight centiles, due to feed size and not keeping it all down).
A few Qs, I probably should have asked the Dr but you always leave in a fluster!
Which feeds should I do it with? Does the effect carry over to the next feed?
Should I use a bigger teat?
Any other hints and tips?

I was given gaviscon for my 2nd and it was useless. It isn't an antacid like adult gaviscon, it is just a thickener. If your child is losing weight due to this I would ask for omeprazole or ranitidine. My 5 year old still takes omeprazole and its fantastic.

See I found it worked brilliantly for my 2.

My 18mo still has one sachet twice a day, morning and night in her bottle.

You don't need a bigger teet, but you can't make up bottles in advance with it.

It does have a cumulative effect. I think the most I gave it was 4 times a day. It was obvious if they needed another dose.

It works quite quickly if it's going to work for your LO.

It can be constipating, so keep an eye on bowel movements. Try to give the minimum amount to reduce the risk. The drs should prescribe lactulose if needed.

We did try omeprazole with my youngest who had the worst reflux, but the side effects were too much for her. We managed much better on gaviscon

Hi, my daughter is on gaviscon and lanzaprosol, she was s prem baby so we was shown it in special care. We was told to mix each sachet with 5 ml of sterile water so it goes through the teat easier, also we was told to use a size 2 teat as it can be thick (but whether that’s because our daughter is prem and they get tired sucking may have been why) for constipation we was told to use pre made formula, so we give her one everyday and she’s absolutely fine. The only thing you may need to have in mind is the quantity theyve given you as it doesn’t seem a lot, we give it in every feed except one.
