Multi vitamins for toddlers - advice

Hello all
I need some advice please. I have been giving my toddler abidec drops. I am feeling awful because I never read the instructions and I didn’t realise that you had to throw these away after 4 weeks. I have been using these for my toddler put to the end of the bottle which means she’s had them for 6 weeks rather than 4. Is this a major issue or is it the efficacy of the vitamins. Please advise as I feel awful for not reading the box properly x

Almost definitely the efficacy of the vitamins - don’t worry yourself! And only 2 weeks over, I really wouldn’t think twice about it.

Oh whoops, I've been doing the same! I just presumed you go to the end of the bottle. I wouldn't worry too much as these vitamins are a supplement to a healthy diet so if the efficacy is slightly less I cant imagine it makes a huge difference.

Hi Op you can get other vitamins that last longer for toddler I use the haliborange baby and toddler multivitamins it's much easier and it's 8 weeks it lasts once open but it never lasts that long

Are they ill? If not then don’t worry.

Star39 · 25/11/2019 17:21

She wasn’t ill. I just was concerned what it meant if it was taking for longer - I was t sure if there were any big concerns or if the efficacy just wasn’t as good x

Did the same for about 2 years before noticing.

My child appears to have made it to almost 6 without keeling over/ growing a second head/ throwing up etc, so am sure it's all good...

Rubyroost · 25/11/2019 19:31

Doubt it will make any difference at all, even to the efficacy of the vits. Its only two weeks over.

manyfingersinmanypies · 25/11/2019 19:48

Shouldn't worry. I gave Wellbaby vits to my child for three years before I noticed that they were supposed to be kept in the fridge after they were opened. Oops.

Child is fine!

I am glad I am not the only one! The other awful thing is that I didn’t realise these drops had peanut oil in and my daughter has been under a consultant for a suspected peanut allergy having skin prick tests and blood tests! Never in a million years would I have thought a multi vitamin would contain peanut oil, let alone one for children. I must start reading the label properly! X

Yep another one here for just realising I too should have been storing the vitamin bottle in the fridge after opening it 😂 I haven't done so for the two years my DS has been on them 🤦🏻‍♀️ guess I'm going to have to be making sure I read labels too
