Aptamil Comfort not working anymore

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you had any advice for a colicky baby please? My little one is 11 weeks old and was on the normal Aptamil milk up until a week and a half ago. She was very colicky on this milk even with infacol and co lactase drops. We tried dentinox and gripe water too but nothing worked so we switched to Aptamil Comfort for Colic. It worked like a dream and I got to see my happy smiley babbling daughter for the first time and it was wonderful but in the last two days she’s worse than ever with the screaming in pain, thrashing her legs and no matter what I do nothing helps. She’ll burp or trump a lot but it doesn’t seem to help. I just don’t know what to do anymore. Does anyone have any advice atall please? Thanks in advance.

How are her nappies? Has she had a change in her dirty nappies?

Silent reflux and CMPA?

Baloonphobia · 23/11/2019 23:30

Our girl is just out of her colic and reflux. She just grew out of it in the end. We weaned her early and this seemed to help. We tried loads of different things and aptamil comfort with carabel thickener and zantac given in anti colic bottles was the best in the end. Every time we tried something new it worked like magic for around two weeks and then stopped. We tried baby gaviscon, lactose free formula and dairy free formula. All worked for a while and then stopped.

She is kind of the same frequency - once every two days - it is quite runny and a greeny yellow colour

Ahh ok thank you, I haven’t looked into silent reflux. Are there any other symptoms? Also what is CMPA?

Oh really! Sounds like this is similar then as it’s been about ten days now. I’m scared to try any other food as her poo is greeny yellow whereas it was yellow before. Did the doctor prescribe the Zantac?

I'm another one who thinks it could be reflux and CMPA.

Go to the GP.

But in the mean time I'd recommend switching from Aptamil completely. My eldest DS was a million times worse on it. Also try a reflux milk. This is thicker though so you will need use the next size up of teats if you haven't done already. Read up about how to help with reflux in babies, but it's basically a case of keeping them as upright as physically possible, especially after a feed. Buy a cherry dummy as well, these helped my two so much!

Her poo on the comfort was a kind of army green and smelt weird. We were prescribed by the hospital. The gp sent her in to get checked out. We took her off it recently as it was recalled due to a health scare but she was better by that time and didn't need it.

Thanks so much everyone i really appreciate all your replies!! I’ll take her to the docs on Monday. She was screaming all night tonight, it was so horrible watching her in pain and not being able to ease it for her.
