Reflux & nighttime grunting

My 1 month old has reflux and has been prescribed gaviscon. He’s breastfed and i’m struggling to get him to take it (just using a teaspoon), any tips?
Whenever he’s awake he wants to be up on my shoulder. He seems to get very uncomfortable at times and thrashes about and gets upset. I can’t put him down, not even in the rocking chair. He starts crying and only stops when I pick him up.

Not sure if it’s related to the reflux but for the past few weeks he has also been grunting and thrashing about at night during his sleep. I think it could be wind/bowel movement. He seems to be sleeping when doing it, obviously I’m not! And it’s much worse during the night. Anyone else experienced this and have any advice?

Thanks

Yes I had this! She had silent reflux occasionally and struggled to wind. I used both infacol and gripe water, I also did tummy massage - gentle circular movements clockwise 2 or 3 times a day.

I also tilted the next to me so gravity would help with the reflux.

However, some element of this is just growth I think and their digestive systems being used. It all seemed to disappear at around12 weeks....

Good luck 😉
