Help!! Pull ups - how?

what is the best 'position' to change pull ups? Im sure theres a knack to it but I don't seem to be doing well with them - only tried them today though. my ds wont lie still but how do you wipe him and clean poo and stuff when hes stood up?

I get the feeling im being a total moose about this, but please help!

standing up to put them on - lying down (I know - you have to pin them down ) to take them off - especially if dirty (rip the sides and remove like a normal nappy) - or that's what I did, anyway!
