Wooden train table for under 3

So I'm thinking of getting my son a wooden train table for Xmas, he will be 2 end of March so almost 2. Age guide says 3 plus but just wondered if anyone else had bought this for their son in the past at this age and was it a good buy?

We got given one and our DS isn't even a year. We've hidden the box of trains and track as everything goes in the mouth but he loves holding it to walk and on the table we've put big plastic cars/diggers and balls. If you feel the parts are too small at the moment could you do something like that until he's ready?

Yes i could deffo. So I guess I'll see how he gets on with it. He does sometimes look at a similar ones at baby groups

I was told a few years ago by a small independent toy shop when asking about age suitability that it is much more and expensive testing to get something labelled as suitable for under 3. So many things labelled over 3 it doesn't necessarily mean it is unsuitable, just that it hasn't been tested for that.

So unless it has lots of little detachable choking hazards and sharp spiky bits, use your judgement
