My DD is 11 weeks old this week and I have decided to try and get her to sleep on her own . Since birth she has only slept on me, and rejected her Moses basket and bedside crib.
I’m managing to get her down in her bedside crib successfully. She sleeps soundly until her first night feed (exclusively BF). After this however she just fusses in her sleep eventually waking herself up. I want to persevere with the independent sleeping but am struggling with the lack of sleep. When she slept with me she’d stir for her feeds (every 2 hours), eat and go back to sleep, meaning both of us had a better nights sleep. I’ve tried putting a hand on her belly, holding her hand and making ssshhing sounds to settle her but none of it’s worked. I’m not sure if it’s because in her crib she’s laid on her back whereas when sleeping with me she lies on her side. She’s very big for her age (99 percentile for everything) so I’m not sure if it’d be ok to lie her on her side in the crib, obviously worried about SIDS. Any advice or words of comfort appreciated
