DD will not eat

Hi,
Hoping im posting in the right topic. So for a bit of background my DD is 16mo, was ill around a month ago which resulted in her having to stay in hospital on oxygen with diagnosed Bronchiolitis. Since returning from hospital she got better but has since suffered with colds quite requently and some times vomiting after certain foods. DD has never been a fussy eater and would usually eat anything i give her but now she will not eat anything. When i say anything i literally mean anything apart from the rare piece of toast or potatoe waffle! She still takes formula of a night which seems to have always been her comfort. Im guessing this is a phase and hoping its just her reacting to have not been well. She drinks plenty on fluids throughout the day also. What can i do about the eating situation? I feel like it would be pointless taling her the doctors as 1. shes still taking plenty of fluids, 2. She isnt hungry?! if she was hungry surely she would be eating what im making her?!, 3. what would they do?

Do any of you wise MN have any helpful advice? I have a doctors appointment booked for her in two weeks time as i am suspicious she may have a diary intolerence as when she vomits it seems to be after she has eaten cheese etc or drank milk.

Thank you for reading Smile im at my wits end and feel really anxious! Sad

I remember reading somewhere that children can become temporarily dairy intolerant after illness. I think it’s because the balance in their gut has been disturbed and so they struggle to process it. Maybe made worse if your LO had antibiotics?

@birdybirdbird oh really? that explains the whole dairy problem then! ill stilk take her to her appointment just incase paranoid FT mum. Yes DD was on anti biotics

Good idea to take her to GP anyway just to check it out. Hope she’s feeling better soon.

My DD's appetite always slows down when she's been ill. She suffers with coughs and chest infections too. It does come back eventually, but for now just offer food as normal. Could you try some non dairy yogurt or milkshake. Or even increase her formula if she'll drink that?

@Florencenotflo She is asking for a bottle throughout the day but im nervous to give her a bottle incase that then fills her up and delays her getting back to eating normal foodSad
