Moving from bottle to cup

My LB is 1 in 2 weeks and I just wanted to check when other mums stopped gifting their baby bottles? I’ve been reading a lot about this and I want to stop giving him formula when he is 1 and start giving proper milk. I wanted to know if others give cows milk at 1 in a bottle or a cup? I’m still planning to give him cows milk first thing and just before bed but just wasn’t sure if should give it him in a cup or bottle as I feel I need to move away from the bottles really. Thank u

We were about 15 months before we got rid of bottles. He got a great deal of comfort from them and it felt cruel to take it away. He gradually started using a nuby sip and go cup. We changed over to whole milk gradually as I felt it was too much change for his tummy to cope. With

My DD is 1 in a couple of weeks too. She’s still having bottles of formula first thing in a
morning and last thing at night at the moment. I’m planning on switching the morning bottle to a cup of full fat cows milk first from next week but keeping the bottle of formula at bedtime for the next few weeks until I run out of formula (I’ve just opened a new tin) Thought it would be best to transition gradually so dropping one feed at a time. She only dropped her afternoon bottle a few weeks ago.

We started at around 11 months. Went from 3 bottles of formula a day to changing to lunch time one for a cup of cows milk. Then a few weeks later the morning one. We kept the bedtime one as a bottle of cows milk for a little bit as it was routine and I didn’t want to wreck that too much, but both of my kids were off bottles and onto cups by 15m. Both times it was very smooth transition and they only fussed the one night and then accepted the change

We swapped to cups at bang on one.. at that age, she was down to a bottle with breakfast & a bottle with bed anyway. I transitioned my DD from a bottle to a straw cup as I figured the sucking action was kinda similar. But we were quite lucky that actually our daughter happily accepted milk in any cup. We could quite quickly change between the straw cup, a sippy cup and eventually a big girl cup as she got older.

In terms of swapping to cows milk.. do it gradually! We just switched and oh god, the nappies were horrific! We switched fully back to formula until her poo was normal again & then reintroduced it slowly! We had no problems second time around Smile

I started introducing cow's milk an oz at a time, he barely noticed the difference when I switched completely. It was amazing packing the perfect prep and sterilizer away!

I give him a cup of milk at 3 o'clock. When he can drink that, I'll replace the breakfast bottle, working up to replacing the bedtime bottle. However, he only takes 1oz from the cup at the moment, so we're not doing very well Sad.

I started to mix cows milk and formula at about 11 months, 1oz at a time until she was on full cows milk. I also just started putting her milk in her cup at 1 (munchkin 360) and she drank it no problem, so i just threw the bottles in the bin! no temptation to go back to them then. Luckily shes never used a bottle as a comforter, shes never had a bottle in bed or anything so it was surprisingly easy
