My 6 year old isn't listening well at school, any ideas how I can help?

So my 6 year old is a bit of a daydreamer. He will sit quietly and be thinking about Pokemon or something like that when the teacher is talking and giving instructions.

This leads to him then not knowing what the task is that they have been asked. The teacher has raised this with me and I agree it must be completely frustrating for her.

What can I do to help?

He is well behaved, eats well, sleeps well every night so it isn't tiredness and there is no hearing issue (I don't think). I think it's selective, he listens when he wants.

Do any of you have youngsters that aren't great at listening? Or have daydreamers? How did you get them to focus more?

Just to add academically he is ok, his reports all say he is where expected So he doesn't excel at anything but reads well and spelling and maths are ok.
