Possible ringworm - no doctors appointment for weeks

Help! DS (21 months) has had an oval rash on his neck for a couple of weeks. It hasn’t been causing him any obvious discomfort - no itching. I showed a pharmacist a week ago and she suggested it could be fungal (from teething drool) but she couldn’t be sure and that because of his age she couldn’t give him anything and to take him to a doctor for a prescription. She didn’t get a very close look because DS was wriggling but she didn’t seem too alarmed - and we got the impression that we could also try sudocreme and see how we got on first. She didn’t mention ringworm or it possibly being contagious and I’ve never heard of ringworm before (FTM). We’ve made a GP appointment but earliest available is 3 weeks away. I’ve now realised that it could be ringworm and I think it’s possible he now has some on his face. I’m going to try a different pharmacist today but please - any advice. Having now looked online it seems creams available from pharmacist are safe for all ages. Any advice on what’s best and can I just buy one and try it even though he’s 21 months? And can I use it on the face? I will ask a pharmacist first. I will also see if we can get an earlier appointment with the GP. DS started nursery in the summer p/time so I’m keen to get it sorted.

A qualified pharmacist will be able to advise you.

You can buy the cream OTC, pop to the pharmacy.

Thank you. We’ve been to a different pharmacist and they’ve given us a cream. Not sure why the other pharmacist wouldn’t give us anything and advised seeing a doctor.
