Dummy advice

My son is 5 weeks. He's settling well at night but is a bit unsettled inbetween feeds during the day. I also have a 3 year old and this is making doing things for her a bit of a challenge. I'm wondering about getting a dummy to help settle him but I'm afraid this will become something he wants at night too which would be a shame seeing as he's doing fine without at the moment. My daughter never had one, she was similar in the day but at that point I had the time to just sit and cuddle her which I can't do all the time now. Does anyone have any experience of using a dummy in the day but it not affecting night settling?

My daughter had one from 1 month old to settle her if I couldn't. She got it before bed after her last feed but I would take it out when she was asleep. She never cried for it really. She is now 6 months and hardly takes it more interested playing with it. Never takes it during the day if she dose have it will be again after her last feed at night and then I take it from her when she's asleep and in bed. I think they are good as longs you don't depend on them to settle them all the time.

Mine has the dummy just to comfort him during the day and send him off to sleep! As soon as he is in a deep sleep he spits it out. He still fall asleep at night mostly without the dummy
