Potty Training and Pooh in Pants

Day eight of potty traning and DS is dry. He hasn't mastered the poohs though and will quite easily just pooh in his pants and carry on as normal. We were in all day yesterday so I kept the pants off to see if he would pooh without the pants, but nothing happened at all, until this afternoon. I am not making a fuss of it just telling him to try to use the potty, cos I think he has done really well with the potty training. Any advise would be appreciated as to what to do next.

Does he usually poo at any particular time of the day ?. if so try sitting him on the loo/ potty and getting him engrosssed in a book or TV program and wait til something happens? Huge praise if succesfull of course.

A friend of mine with 4 kids (2 boys and 2 girls who are all at school now) said her two boys took much longer than the girls to get the poo thing and would sneak off behind the sofa to poo rather than go on the loo or potty.

Just keep it up, I guess.

Best of luck!

Well done so far! I am pot training ds too.
Never thought he would do a poo in pot and yesterday it happened-day 14.
Ds didnt seem to know what the feeling was.
Ask him how he is feeling.ds says his tummy hurts so thats the sign to grab the pot!

Mine's still wait and waiting for pooing in his pants rather than anywhere else. He will if he has his pants off round the house but it's still a waiting game! I think the boy/girl thing is a sit down thing as well. my boy always wees when he poos - something to do with the release I think! My friend says that her daughter always confused the two when she starter. But girls wouldn't have the same problem if they always sit down! My boy likes to stand to wee (in his miniurinal - weeman - fantastic invention) but the poo is always a problem!
