At home with a sick toddler for the last 3 days... been coughed on, climbed on, cried on and snotted on. She's exhausted but hasn't slept at all for 3 nights, and can't nap during the day as she keeps walking herself up coughing. DH is working straight through the weekend (and all week) so I'll have the same again for 12 hours tomorrow, family are away, can't have friends with kids over as don't want to make them sick. Can't go out as it's cold and raining. She's so overtired she won't sit still, and everything is frustrating her. Been like this since 6am today and the 2 days before that. Sad. She almost fell asleep on my knee there and then the people in the apartment above started drilling & hammering really loudly- completely fine any other time but now I'm on the verge of tears

Try some relaxing time bath, dark cosy room, music or story time?

MarchingAnts · 03/11/2019 16:37

Thanks, yeah I gave her a bath, although she screamed getting in and getting out but seemed calmer afterwards. She was awake all night again last night and only napped for an hour today. Actually looking forward to going back to work at this stage!

Oh I sympathise, ds was up 11.30 till 4am last night with I think teething and refused to nap until 2pm today when he grabbed about 50 minutes. He is a snotty, dribbly, grumpy thing. You must be so fed up after 3 days! Can you wrap her in a dressing gown and go for a long drive?

Hi meow1989 Oh teething is really tough too. I feel sorry for them, they go through so much at such a young age. She hates the car and the pram at the best of times, but yeah I did venture out a while ago in the car for a drive, and actually that was when she had the hour sleep. I think being upright really helped as once she lies down she starts coughing.

Can you raise the head of her cot or bed by putting some thick books under the legs at the head end? Poor love.

What is it with toddlers that won’t sleep when they’re ill! I sympathise mine kept me up most of last night has refused to nap today and is over tired whilst being full of energy
Mines currently enjoying a relaxing bath and most of the water is now round the bathroom.
