14 month old refusing lunch

My DD has been refusing her lunch time meal for the last week or so, no matter what we offer, she won’t eat it. She lovesss toast and cream cheese and won’t even eat that

She has a good breakfast, usually weetabix or porridge with fruit and a good dinner, for example she had a good size portion of pasta with Veg yesterday.

She has snacks through out the day, like fruit or yoghurt, cheese triangles etc..

Should i be concerned with her not eating lunch if she is eating well for other meals, I don’t want to force her to eat. I assume she would eat if she was hungry

Anyone else been through this? Any advice?

My DC did this for a bit, when he was maybe 16 months. I think he was just too interested in playing and didn't want to sit for a meal. I agonized a bit over whether offering too many snacks in replacement would lead to a habit of this but after a couple of weeks he started eating lunch again. I just offered a small something every day at lunchtime and let him eat what he wanted.

In hindsight, I wonder if it coincided with the end of a growth spurt/tapering of appetite as I think he then overall ate less in a day than he had been for the previous 6 (seemingly ravenous) months.

As with many things toddler related, it ultimately stopped before I worked out the solution!

I've literally just the Hv here today for my dd's 15 mo th review and she told me that young children up to the age of about 4 eat over a week, so of they eat a little less some days and eat more on others they measure what they eat over 7 days rather than each day if that makes sense. So as long as she eats enough over the weeks period you dont need to worry. I always think to myself when my own dd wont eat, is if she was hungry she would eat eventually

Ahh thank you both so much, just a relief to hear from others.

I won’t worry as much now :)
