Colic or something else? Newborn

Hi,

My little boy is 2 weeks & 5 days old. Up until around a week and a half he was the most content and calm baby. Then he began to get really fidgety and seemed agitated a lot which people said is probably wind so we started him on Infacol which I thought helped a bit for a few days.

He seems to be extremely restless a lot of the day. He is getting fidgety during feeding and seems to be in pain crying during and afterwards no matter how much he is winded. We always change him after feeds as before feeds seems impossible. Now he is also spitting up every time he is laid down after a feed (even if we've kept him upright for quite a while afterwards he will spit up as soon as he's laid down).

Does this sound like colic or maybe reflux or something else? Does anyone have any suggestions as I feel really helpless and this is not the happy content baby boy I had a few weeks ago :-( is it possible he is just finding himself??

Sounds like reflux. My son completely changed at 2 and a half weeks. He was constantly crying when awake, couldn’t nap during the day, was upset during feeding, violent hiccups, arched back. I initially thought it was trapped wind or something. After a lot of back and forth to the doctor’s and research online it turned out to be silent reflux.

I don’t believe the word colic is actually a thing. It’s a stomach issue for young babies which they usually grow out of so doctor’s refuse to do anything !

You could try anti reflux milk or failing that ask the doctor for medication. Invest in a sling to keep baby upright and you hands free. My son still hates laying in his pram bassinet even now he’s medication is working !

Also I should have added. This is really really hard and you are doing an amazing job. It took me to the brink and back, it’s really not easy xx
