Car seats and snow suits

Hi I'm aware no snow suits and thick winter coats in the car seat while driving. But I was wondering if snow suit would be okay in car seat if just using the car seat and buggy wheels for a winter walk?

Snowsuit on a winter walk... Just check they aren't too hot or cold.
Make sure they are only in car seat for recommended time though.

SpadesOfGlory · 31/10/2019 14:02

Of course it would. The advice about driving is to do with the straps not being tight against the baby's body because the padding of the snow suit gets in the way so wouldnt be as safe in a crash situation.

I would do snow suit in pram.

I did sometimes pop into shop with car seat on wheels but not meant to be in it for long periods so would change to pram for a walk.

Yes it’s safe. But watch out for overheating, especially if you then go inside.

Thanks for response think I'll go with snow suit in pram to be safe. Just wondered about the walking bit and baby being in car seat to long. What about those buggy's are only come with the car seat attachment seen so many people with those. I was in two minds to get one but opted for a park that's 3 in one

They can wear those thin fleecy suits in car seat ie thick cardigan thickness as not padded. So i guess on a cold day that plus layers of blankets ontop and hat.

Like you say, for an actual walk though, moving to pram will be comfier

I'll be honest I got gifted 3 or 4 snow suits and I think the both babies only wore one once.
Obviously, they didn't get used in the car, and I found them too rigid for baby to move around in the pram. Once they were in the pushchair part, it was a faff to sort the straps and fit them in.
I used to do vest, sleepsuit/clothes, thicker hoody/cardy, and then blankets.
Once in the pushchair the cozy toes are snug and I would add a blanket around them if it was particularly cold.
If you haven't already purchased or been gifted, I prob would advise not to rush out and get xx

I’ve had 2 dc both winter babies and never even owned a snow suit. They get hot in a pushchair or car seat quite quickly. Layers, warm jumper, blanket and some sort of wind break (carry cot or rain cover) has always been fine.

GrumpyHoonMain · 01/11/2019 16:10

Only if it lies flat in the puschair chassis. If not take the pram

DappledThings · 01/11/2019 18:18

I've never used snowsuits for a non- walking child either. Pramsuits yes but not snowsuits

Greatnorthwoods · 01/11/2019 18:20

Yep I don’t see a problem, where we live winter is -20C, so snowsuits in and out the car are a must.

BertieBotts · 01/11/2019 18:25

Yes this is fine to do. It's to do with crash safety why you can't, so that's not relevant on a walk.

Sunshinegirl82 · 01/11/2019 18:34

Its fine to do it although they do get warm in car seats so just keep an eye.

Morrck blankets are fab for winter babies.
