Would you buy ear defenders for a 3&2 year old or will they be okay?

Depends on the child and depends on the display.
At that age, I took mine to child friendly, local ones, and they would generally wear ear muffs or pull their hat down over their ears - just things we had anyway. I wouldn't / never needed to use ear defenders.
