Sitting up

FTM so could sound a stupid question.
When did your DC start sitting on their own?
DS is 16 weeks old and absolutely hates laying down. I put him in his rocker chair on the inclined position and he constantly pulls himself up still.
The carrycot is fine if he wants to sleep but hates the carrycot if he is awake.
I have a stroller suitable from birth and even though he is in the lowest position he is fine in this as he can see what's going on.

Just looking for answers when your DC started to sit up as he likes to be propped all the time but I do it at an angle as I'm worried about his back but he still pulls himself up 🙈😂. I don't sit up bolt upright btw.
Also when is it safe to sit them a bit more upright? Probably a stupid question 😳.

It's not a stupid question if it is worrying you Smile

Trouble is, my dc are all grown now so memory is hazy.
Hopefully this will lift you off 'Unanswered threads', so a more recent parent of a baby can answer you.

My son could sit himself up from lying flat about 7 months maybe a week or so before

He was sitting though if helped into the position unaided by 5 months

He too hated laying flat (wind and silent reflux )

The cot had a Slight tilt and infracol and gripe water helped a bit.

Each baby is different though Thomas is not behind but perhaps on the slightly later age group for physical milestones

My 4.5 month old loves sitting up and is very close to being able to sit up independently.
My 6 year old was completely different and didn't sit up independently until he was 8 months old.
If your baby is trying to sit up and pull himself up then I think it's fine to encourage him and wouldn't worry about his back.

Mine enjoyed being propped up from about 14/15 weeks, sat independently by 5 months, and could pull himself up to sitting by 6 months.

My son was just over three months when I swapped out the pram for the reclining buggy seat so that he could sit at an angle and see out. So sounds like about the same stage.

Six months for sitting up by himself.

Thank you everyone.
Really helpful comments! I will now stop trying to lay him back if he doesn't want too.
I suppose he's just doing what feels natural for him ☺️
Thank you!
