Hi guys

Been struggling with 4.5 month DD last couple of weeks or so. Doing 8oz bottles every 3-4 hours but still incredibly miserable throughout the day.

End of last week mum said try her with some puree, milk might not be hitting the spot anymore. She is sitting up on her own now and is more than double her birth weight so I thought what the hell. Bang, Saturday I gave her some porridge after her morning milk and went absolutely mental! She took 4 spoonfuls and nothing was spat back out. Sunday gave her porridge again (4 spoons) then some puree after her lunch bottle (again 4 spoons) and again appeared to thoroughly enjoy it with no wastage. I've got my smiley happy baby back!

She is still doing all her bottles but after I gave her 4 spoons of fruit today she was still opening her mouth and got really excited when she saw the spoon! Should I perhaps increase the amount?

She is clearly enjoying it and wants more but don't want to over feed her combined with her bottles she's still draining.

Think i may have a porker on my hands! TIA 😊

I would stop giving food as you’re risking long term health problems for your baby. The issue here is your baby is hungry. Breast milk and formula contain lots more calories than food. Babies should be fed on demand, which means when they want and how much they want. A baby should never drain a bottle as this means you have decided how much milk she should have. Offer her more milk and stop feeding when she has had enough.
