Hi, first thread ☺️
Pregnant with my first and I only have a shower! Planning on using a baby bath initially, but does anyone only have a shower? And tips and suggestions please

We’ve had a blow up baby bath that we’ve taken on hols? Sit it in the shower tray and either fill up with jugs from the tap or if you have a shower with a hose take the shower head off and fill up that way

Also you may find your kitchen sink is better/easier than a baby bath! We often do sink baths after a particularly messy dinner - takes seconds to fill and they can sit up in it (with support initially) - my youngest is 10 months now and still fits fine

Just wondering when they’re too big for the sink/baby bath, anyone uses a shower other than a bath?

You can get a little chair to sit them up in the shower (when they are strong enough for this) then take the shower head off the pole and rinse them over with it. Wet a flannel in the sink to wash face. Also lay them on kitchen counter to wash hair in kitchen sink. Hair doesn't usually need washing that much so you can just do the shower regularly and hair in sink every so often 😊

Once they are even older they can stand on a bath mat and have fun holding the shower themselves and flooding the bathroom 🤣🤣

We use a shower. One of us goes in with the baby, holds her and washes her. The other one takes her out. You could probably do it alone as well but our bathroom is tiny. It works ok with our baby but it probably depends on their temperament and they are quite slippery when wet. We started at around 6-7 months after the baby bath became too small.

Oh we only use water so far I guess with shampoo and stuff it could be tricky!

They can go with the shower with you when they are a bit bigger. I mostly top and tailed, anyway, whether I had a bath or not.

Our 18 month old still fits in her baby baby (11kg, 82cm tall) but she has been happy to have a shower as well since she has been sitting up unsupported confidently.

All the best for your new arrival.

My DH takes our DS in the shower with him each weekend. We've been doing it since he was steady enough to hold himself upright. DH supports his weight with one arm and washes his hair and body with the other. I'm ready with a towel and he hands him over when they're done. I've tried doing it but can't hold his weight for long enough with one arm these days!
