Anti reflux milk and constipation

Hi
My 3 week old DS has been put on aptimil anti reflux milk. We started it on thursday and it is massively helping his reflux symptoms. However, he is now constipated and has only passed one tiny rabbit pellet since yesterday morning. He is straining but nothing is coming out. It's horrible watching him struggling.

Has anyone had any experience of this with anti reflux milk? Does it get better once his system gets used to it? Can anyone suggest any remedies?

My son went onto this at around 8 weeks. He is fine now but we did change formula 4 times before that and the changing made him constipated. He was also on gaviscon for reflux which made him constipated too. I’d give it a few weeks and see if his tummy settles down. You could get lactulose if the AR milk is helping the reflux.

Yes, I think it's because it's thicker milk to stop the reflux but clogs them up. Gaviscon does it too. Have you tried any of the reflux medications? Omeprazole worked wonders for DD
