My daughter is 2.5 and since teething at 6 months, she shunned all traditional teethers and would only chew on metal. Initially tea spoons and then I discovered yummikeys. Never thought much of it and she now has all her teeth.
But for the last couple months, she’s suddenly obsessed with chewing metal again. And in all honestly, a bit oddly obsessed. She finds anything with metal on it, my purse or handbag clasp, zips, keys.. and when you take them away, she gets really upset. But not really a tantrum, more genuine tears of confusion. She has a sore on the outside of her mouth from all the chewing and I worry about her teeth on the metal! I take anything metal away when I spot her but my other half tends to just leave her chewing! (I’m currently experiencing a HG pregnancy, so other half has done a lot of childcare recently!)
Is it something to be concerned about do you think? Does she just like the taste or is it an odd habit?!
