Best Milk Formular?

Hey ladies,

Quick one,
What's the best formular you girls use for your babies. My little one has just come off of breastfeeding. Now I'm on a search for the best formular. She suffers with colic.

All the suggestions are greatly appreciated 😊

There is no best formula. Its whatever suits your baby.

hungryhippie · 22/10/2019 07:36

There isn't a best one, it depends what suits your baby.
It's formula, not formular.

Have a read of the first steps nutrition formula milk guide. It's really useful.

There was also a channel 4 dispatches program about it on in the summer which was good too.

Dd and ds both got on well with Aptamil when transitioning to formula after months of ebf. But it will be different for each baby.

As others have said, there isn’t a best formula. My dc that were ff had SMA because it was the only one available in the village shop, chemist & you can also get it in the nearest 24 hour supermarket.

Jasmin221 · 22/10/2019 09:58

Alright @hungryhippie my phone auto changed it... Thanks for noticing the spelling mistake though..

Thanks I've gone with kendamil milk. Its organic. I've read a lot of good things about it.

Formula is heavily regulated in the UK so basically has the same ingredients in each one. I’m sure there are expensive ones that claim to be better but you’d be just as good getting Aldi’s! Millions of babies are fed on Aptamil, Cow & Gate and SMA every year & thrive. You don’t need to worry.

SoyDora · 23/10/2019 19:29

They’re all pretty much the same. They are heavily regulated so they all adhere to the same quality standards.

Bouncer4me · 23/10/2019 22:09

I’m using kendamil for my daughter and I’ve found she hasn’t had colic since we’ve used it. And it’s made in the uk and hasn’t got palm oil or fish oil in it which is a bonus

fromcitytocountry · 24/10/2019 09:00

Sainsbury's own brand is kendamil with a different label but only £7 instead of £9+

Imicola · 24/10/2019 11:36

They are all nutritionally identical, but the specific ingredients and processes they use are different. I liked kendamil, but unfortunately DD didn't, so we went with hipp organic.

Hipp organic is what we’ve used and I’ve noticed a lot of people make the switch to it from others and it agrees with their babies.

LongJohnGlitter · 17/10/2020 04:41

@doireallyneedaname same here! Changed to Hipp and after just a few days my lo is more settled. Had been on sma for first 8 weeks and had terrible wind for ages after feeding

BitGutted · 17/10/2020 09:20

My friends baby had very bad comic and then reflux and the dr prescribed her something - might be worth asking them as then it's on prescription so saves a little bit of money 💰

BitGutted · 17/10/2020 09:23

Colic not comic daft phone 🤦🏻‍♀️

BGDino · 17/10/2020 10:10

I’m in Australia but FWIW I use S26 Gold with Aptamil thickener (suggested by DD’s GO to help with her reflux)

BGDino · 17/10/2020 10:10

GP not GO!

Sevo7 · 17/10/2020 10:20

There is no best one, they are meant to all be the same more or less but some babies get on better with others.

For instance I breastfed my first for 6 weeks and switched to SMA which made him constipated and tummy ache, tried cow and gate but it made him sick after each feed so went for Aptamil which he did really well on with no issues.

2nd dc I breastfed until 9 months, tried aptamil as it had worked for Ds but she seemed to be get tummy ache and was very fussy when feeding so switched to cow and gate and occasionally Aldi’s own and never had an issue
