Bad nappy rash, possibly thrush, can I use canesten?

My 9 month old had a cold and diarrhoea for a few days and during this for bad nappy rash, I’ve tried everything, all the creams including yellow metanium, oat baths etc, it’s getting worse not better.

Just noticed it’s getting quite bumpy so possibly thrush/yeast infection? Can I use canesten and if so which type?

Hi Op I would try and get an appointment with gp rather than put cream on in case it makes it worse failing that if you can't get an appointment with gp pop into your local pharmacy and speak to them for advice

Definitely GP. And its 1% canesten for fungal nappy rash, not the 2% that comes with the combos when you're pregnant!

Pharmacy won't sell to you otc for a child - will have to see GP

Dh went to the chemist and they gave him canesten cream but he had to ask for it, it wasn’t on the shelf, it says for fungal infections and nappy rash.

If it doesn’t improve in a couple of days I’ll take her to the doctors.

I’ve never had thrush in all of my 34 years so had no idea where to start!
