Anyone had this before? My DS is nearly 8 weeks old and ALWAYS sleeps either looking up or to his left. Never looks right. If I move his head to look right, he fights it and as soon as I let go, looks left again.

I know there's that thing about heads becoming flat on one side, but his head shape looks normal and round. I'm more interested in what could be the reason behind it? Could it be something serious?

I'm going to book an appointment with the doctor tomorrow but just thought maybe people on here had experience with this?

It sounds like torticollis. It’s very common. It’s basically just a stiff neck from how they were lying in the womb. My youngest had it. Two appointments to a cranial osteopath (she also gave us some stretches to do at home) and it was completely fine.

I would try an osteopath. We went to the GP first and he wouldn’t do anything (he said, “come back if he gets a flat head and we’ll get him a helmet” Hmm ). Very worth paying for the osteopath. It was obvious he was much more comfortable after the first visit.

I wouldn’t think so. My DS head went a bit flat on one side but it evened itself out by about 12 months, you can’t tell now. I suppose there’s no harm seeing a GP if you’re worried - but to be honest it’s not something I ever paid attention to or would have noticed if my DS head hadn’t started changing shape - but you never know, maybe there’s a reason he’s uncomfortable on the other side? But I think most likely there’s no reason it’s just how he’s comfortable.
