Any potty training tips?

Hi everyone
My DD is two in a couple of weeks and is showing all the signs that’s she’s ready to start potty training. She will sit on the potty for ages but as soon as she has the urge to go she wants a nappy straight back on we’ve been telling her what to do she has lots of books that she loves to read all about it.
Any tips would be great

Thanks

My daughter was fine to sit on the potty but very resistant to actually having a wee on it! We had weeks and weeks of 'practicing'.
It took major bribery in the end - she got to pick out a new dressing up outfit for the first wee in the potty. Once that was out the way she did incredibly well.

I see your daughter is not yet 2 - mine was a little older so not sure if what I have said is appropriate!

This is what I did with my daughter over a weekend when it was just the two of us home alone:
Friday evening before she went to bed I told her that we were going to do something special over the weekend (cue over excited face etc.) that she wouldn't wear nappies and would wee in the toilet and every time she did she would get a sticker. As soon as she woke up on Saturday morning I put her on the toilet and she did wee! So she got a sticker to stick on a paper on the back of the bathroom door.
I set a timer to go off every 20 mins throughout the day and I'd put her on the toilet. Also I'd ask her every now and then if she needed to go. The first day she had 2 accidents, but nothing the next day onwards. Poos took about 2 weeks for her to be happy with the toilet, for those 2 weeks she would hold it until her night time nappy went on, then poo. We changed the rewards to 2 special stickers for a poo in the toilet and it didn't take long at all. For the first 2 weeks I put her in a pull up if we were going to be out for an extended period. I think she's had 2 poo and 3 wee accidents in about 8 months since training.
With the nights I kept her in a nappy until she'd done a whole consecutive month dry at night.
There was never any drama if she had an accident or pooed in her nappy, only praise and positivity about what she was doing right.
Good luck!

I’ve just trained my 18 month old having read the Oh Crap book - found it very sensible. It took 4 days of staying inside with him, which actually turned out to be a great bonding experience!

Another recommendation for Oh Crap - potty trained my son at 23 months really quickly and effectively using the method. Poos took a few weeks to crack but while that happened he was only doing one every two or three days so not many accidents to clean up! And with each poo more of it was caught in the potty or toilet each time until suddenly he just got it. Then he went back to doing one a day.
