Although dd is a fantastic reader, she still likes being read to. We have just finished anne Frank's diary and When Hitler stole pink rabbit.. ( I'm trying to balance out all that chick lit crap she reads herself!)
Any other inspiring books - nothing sci fi it just doesn't appeal- nothing scary!

Lucky DD having a mother who is happy to read to her! I've got lots of ideas. Here's a few and I'm sure I'll think of more.

Noel Streatfeild - Ballet Shoes, White Boots, etc
Rumer Godden - Miss Happiness and Miss Plum, the Doll's House
Elizabeth Goudge's children's books - Henrietta's House, The Little White Horse
Diana Wynne Jones
Laura Ingalls Wilder

We've done some of those, but others are ones I had forgotten- thanks BlueStocking

OOOO I was going to suggest When HItler Stole Pink rabbit. ( It's my absolute favourite) ... There are 2 follow on books but I can't remember their names, about what happens next.

I also loved What Katy Did and the others in that series
