How old Fimbo?

DS was 3 in March and I'm starting on Sat

Well done

He will be 4 in December!

It has been an uphill battle, even Cod was stumped.

I let him choose pants, potty and toilet trainer seat and he point blank refused to take his nappy off.

I finally had enough last week after a really dirty nappy, dh came home, showed him what to do for the millionth time (again!), and sat for ages with him in the bathroom reading him stories etc. Eventually he did a wee and was so proud of himself. Dh, dd and I were all whooping round the house like loons. We also coaxed him by telling him he wouldn't be allowed in the school nursery unless he went to the toilet (he is desperate to go "school" like his sister). He now hates nappies and wont even wear one over night and has been dry in the night ever since.

Maybe he was just ready now, I dunno.

I was so sure he would be the child to go to school in nappies.

Good luck with your ds, I wouldn't pressurise him, if my ds can do it eventually any child can. Keep me posted.

My DS1 was only just out of nappies before he went to school, a few weeks off his 5th birthday, first time he did a poo in the toilet he wouldn't let me flush it away as "it looked like a dinosaur" and he had to show everyone before we could say goodbye to it . Now he is 12 I love to tell hime that story just to make him !

I'm really pleased for you fimbo

I let DS sit on the potty last night with no nappy and he leaped up saying "where does my willy go?" bless him!

Meeely2 · 15/08/2007 16:06

my DT's managed a car journey to nursery in pants this morning and stayed dry - very proud....

Fimbo/curlywurly can you give me some tips?

I started pt my ds on cods" inept sods thread"... 3 weeks of the holidays and I gave up because we were going on a long car journey(we did 1,500 miles round trip to visit family in Ireland)

he would stand up to the loo and do a pee, if we took him, we had no poo success, he is back in pull ups but I am not even taking him to the loo, just feel he needs a break?

I am thinking of buying bright bots pull ups and then at least when I do try again he can maybe go to nursery in them instead of disposable pull ups....

he starts nursery next week... 2.5 hrs 3 days a week.

oh and congrats to your ds, no more nappies, it must be such a great feeling for him and you!
