MAM teats

Hi! Just looking for some advice on my 8 week old. The last week he has really struggled feeding (arched back, crying, appears to be in pain). He also makes a lot of mess during feeding and had to be changed every time as milk soaks through the bib and babygrows. I was using tommee tippee bottles but thought I'd try him on a MAM bottle which we received free. He seem to feed much better on these. No mess either! This was a newborn bottle with teat 0. I ordered some larger MAM bottles and they come with teat 2. He seems to be struggling again and making a mess. Should I stick with the newborn teats or try size 1 teat? Just conscious for his age he should be on size 2 but he just seems to gulp it to quickly and make a mess. Size 0 seems to slow him down.. First time confused mum here so grateful for any advice!!

The age is just a guide. Go with what works best for your baby. We still use size 2 teats as DD is quite happy and just never got round to moving up a size for no reason.

BTW we never used size 0 and stayed on size one for about 3 months.

DS has expressed breast milk in a mam bottle and was on size one until he was about five/six months, but he was used to the work of BF, if 0 is too slow and 2 too fast, maybe try the size in the middle? You can buy the teats separately.

He has size two now and is ten months and we're starting to transition to a cup

I'd try the size 1 slow flow teat for a bit. Size 0 (extra slow) straight to 2 (medium flow) might be a bit too much. I ignored the age on the teats and took the lead from DD when to change and only went up one flow at a time.

My baby is eleven weeks and around two weeks we changed her to Mam bottles. She has silent reflux and just couldn’t manage the tommy tippee bottles. I’d definitely try the size 1 teat that’s what we used up til this week when we moved to size 2. Size 1 was perfect to start with.
