1 month old baby, sudden nappy leaks

We were using Lupilu (Lidl brand) size 1s for my LB with no issues but the last few days we’ve been having lots of nappy leaks (wee’s not poo’s luckily)

I thought perhaps he has outgrown the size 1s (he’s quite a big boy) so switched to some size 2s(not Lidl, not sure of the brand) and still having leaks.

Any ideas why? I’m making sure his dinky is pointing down when fastening his nappies.

Thanks!

Try other makes. Done suit longer / shorter / thinner / chubbier babies better.

And size up as soon as he gets into the next weight range.

Are you changing them regularly enough? Make sure they're sides are tucked high into baby's groin. Lidl nappies are generally good if you're using them correctly

Switch brands, we found pampers best when he was really tiny (6lbs) and once he was around 3 months Asda or Tesco’s own brand.. now he’s 7months we’re back to pampers, it was poo with ds not wee so we needed stronger leg gussets but I always ended up with the size above what he was supposed to be in. Aldis are apparently good, never used them as our nearest Aldi is an hour on the bus and Asda’s 5 minutes away 😂

Also remember to pull out the skirt/fringe around the thigh bit :)

Try a bigger size even if you think it's too big. 10mo is currently is size 6 (but is v tall for age).

I used to sometimes have this problem with my DS. I worked out one day that he leaks when his private parts are facing upwards. So after that I had to remind myself to point his willy down before putting the nappy on and that done the trick with me

Are his vests tight on him? I find that when my little boy is outgrowing his vests we get leaks because of the compression. Maybe try a next size up vest.

ReadytoPop6 · 15/10/2019 22:34

@ Ewanismydreamsheep This is very possible!! His vests are tight, he’s grown quickly & still in newborn vests. I hadn’t thought about this!

@Ewanismydreamsheep Never thought of this! I assumed it was just a “boy thing” but my 10 week old is going into 3-6 month clothes now, I wonder if he’ll leak so much in the bigger clothes?

Lidl nappies can and do leak after 2-3 hours. Should change them every 2 hours to be safe. Only the pampers dry ones, in my experience, hold out for 4 hours plus.
