15 mth old now refusing buggy. How do you get anywhere

We used to do lovely walks in woods then stop at playpark but now he screams until he can get out and then walks very slowly or sits in mud or runs into woods and won't come back till I catch him.
I know it's a development phase but it's so frustrating. Any ideas on managing it better with him? - he's my first!
The walks are my only form of exercise and we need the pushchair to get to playgroups etc and to avoid the car
I'm getting him a push able trikie as hopefully that will help for Christmas

We got a trike! DS loves it, he can see so much more in it and I think it makes him feel less trapped in! He thinks it’s really cool and a bike now Grin

I think I would just put him in anyway, give him something to play with or try to chat to him but it's probably a phase he will get over and if you stop using the buggy now, it will be much harder to start using it again when you need to.
Maybe limit walks to necessary journeys rather than long walks in the woods until he gets over it.

Yeah it's just a mid mortifying as he is loud now he's big.
He chucks toys out. We've tried conkers and acorns and big leaves but it's slow going.
Can't wait for the trike!

Mine stands on the back of the pram. I have to fold the seat down so she can see then she hops on the back and I push her along like that.

Isn’t this where the trusty knee hold comes in whilst you desperately try and buckle them in Smile

TheSunAlsoRises · 15/10/2019 08:00

Mine much prefers to be in the sling for dog walks etc, she has a better view and we can chat easily but if I need her in the pushchair I just put her in despite the protests.

This was my DD from the same age. Not really much advice, but it made walking the dog really bloody hard. Hated any form of sling / carrier too, and not that keen on walking. Just wanted to sit / dawdle along investigating the floor / ants etc. All fine but no good for the poor dog! If it’s any help, she walks well now at 2.5. We just haven’t bothered with the pram for about a year!

Could you get him the trike now, to help you out? He won’t notice not getting a “big” present on xmas day.

Spanglyprincess1 · 15/10/2019 20:01

Yeah I'm thinking that too ref trike!!!
