Weight/height/weaning/9 month review

Does anyone know who I can ask questions to regarding my Son's height/weight/weaning and 9 month review?

My boy will be 9 months later this week, and I have a couple of questions. I took him to weigh clinic today as they have previously been very helpful.

But having waited over an hour to be seen, the lady there could not work the scales and after 4 attemps at using them (with my Son becomming more upset each time) I think she guessed his weight as she wrote i his book a weight that was less than his previous visit 5 weeks ago! I very much doubt that my Son has lost weight. He feels heavier to lift and he eats food and still enjoys lots of milk.

I tried asking this lady my questions and she stated she did not have time to answer them and I needed to wait til our 9 month review. As I had recieved no info about this review and did not have an appointment for one, I asked her when this would be. Her response was any time in the next 3 months!

Obviously I cant wait this long for what are probably basic questions to be answered (I'm a first time Mum and still learning about all things baby) can anyone point me in the direction of who to approach to get some answers/advice. I called my GP but as they dont have a baby clinic they were unable to help.

What sort of questions do you have? You could get a rough idea of weight if you have scales at home (weigh holding him and then weigh without him)

I've ordered some scales online to weigh him myself. I also wanted to know how long he is as his car seat is outgrown at 75cm. 5 weeks ago he was 73cm and hes had a growth spurt in that time. I have tried to measure him myself with a tape measure but he dosent stay still long enough for me to get a measurement!

I also wanted to ask for some weaning advice - he seems to be struggling with actual lumpy food (the cow and gate jars from 7m have actual lumps of veg in) and he just seems to filter the lumps out rather than try to chew them. He will happily eat textured puree and will chew rice wafers/rusks etc. Is it normal to struggle with lumpy food?

Also, he has never had any sugar (except for naturally occuring in fruit etc) and I am wanting to know when it is ok to introduce it and how much is ok to let him have? Basically, can he have an advent calender?(he will be 11 months in Dec)

I am going back to work soon, but do have one day a week off in my 1st 4 weeks back. So I am wanting to arrange his 9 month review for a day when I wont be at work. I havent recieved any details about it yet so just wanted to know how it works and when I can book the appointment or who will be arranging it so I can make sure its on a day where we can actually go!

Im sure these questions are basic to a trained professional, but as a first time Mum, I just don't know these things! X
