6 week old sleeping in side

Hi, my six week old loves sleeping on her side and it scares the life out of me. I never let her sleep in her side at night time but occasionally will do during the day when she's with me and she will have the best, seetled nap when on her side. When we go out in her carrycot I will put her tilitwd slightly as she will only sleep in there like that and I am constantly watching her, but I really want her to be able to sleep on her back. Will she ever grow out of this? By the time she's 6 month she won't be able to sleep in her carrycot and will be in her upright pushchair and dreading the thought she won't sleep anymore when out and about. At night she sleeps so unsettled and up all the time as she hates sleeping on her back. Any help would be so grateful xx

You'll probably find that when she can roll, she'll want to sleep on her front. DS always slept better on his side as a newborn and then it was a blessed relief when he learnt to roll and slept on his front! (He's currently napping face down in his cot).

You're doing great. Don't worry about how well she'll sleep in the pram when she's 6 months old because you just know she'll change a lot before then!

Thank you for your reply, makes me feel a lot better :) I read yesterday online 'Dr Karp' 5 S's and one of them was side/stomach sleeping for babies. I am looking forward to when my little girl can roll and hoping it will help at night 🙏 i will try and not worry about out and about in a pushchair, when she's too big for carrycot 😊 xx

She might stop sleeping so well in the carrycot too, past 4 months or so some babies don't sleep so well when they're out and about because they become so distractable. Or she might love a good pram nap! They're all so different, it's impossible to predict what's ahead. Just take each challenge as it comes.

It is possible for dc to turn slightly onto their side while in a normal pushchair seat, my dc4 would always do this
