Boring labelling question!

I have two boys a year apart. Can I just put their last name on all their clothes so I don’t have to relabel a year later or would there be any practical problems in doing this? Thanks

I'd presume it depends how common the surname is. Ours was too common to do so unfortunately.

I bought labels with embroidered names, (so A Lastname B) and folded them before sewing them in, so one got their initial before the surname, one after.

I did this with some stuff, but we were the only family in the school with our surname.
Not trousers, shirts etc. But coats, wellies sort of things just got surname.
Actually thinking about it, if I was ironing in a label, tgeh gotvtheir own names, because I could change it easily. If I sharpie'd the name in, it was just a surname.

We did for lots of things.

I've just left dd1's name on the uniform for dd2. #lazy
My mum used to get nametapes that said y xxxxx z so that she could have 1 set for the 2 of us.

I do this for my dd and ds, they have a very unusual surname though- I'm absolutely positive no one else in school has the same name! I suppose a lost item might be sent home with the wrong dc but I don't see how it matters to us.

I've got twins, I sharpie A surname B in everything. Seems to work. Can't be doing with labels!

Thanks, we have an unusual last name so I’m just going to use that. The sewing label tip is a good one but I’m too lazy for that!
