Alternative names for Godparents?

I’d like for some close friends to be my DS’ Godparents but I don’t want to call them that as neither us, nor them, are religious. Have any of you got any suggestions of what they could be called?

We are guide parents to my friends little girl, she had a naming day.

A friend of mine has 'guardians' for her baby.

I love oddparents! Going to file that away Grin

What are you talking about? The whole purpose of 'godparents' is to introduce DCs to the family's chosen religion. I don't understand your thinking?

@Basil90 thanks for that entirely pointless and unhelpful response.

The ‘Godparents’ will not be fulfilling a religious role in my DS’ life. They will be additional adults to be there for him and guide him in any way he needs it, close friends of mine who love him and want an active role in his life. We are not religious so it’s my take on ‘Godparents’, which is why I want a different name for them.
