South or North need help!

Good evening,
My Husband, daughter (18 months) and I are currently living with my family down South. My husband works away all over the UK, home at weekends. There’s no option for him to have a permanent place of work for a few years.

We took the plunge out of a rental property and moved in with my family to save for a mortgage.
It’s been extremely testing to say the least and i really want to be out and into our own place by Christmas.

We don’t have enough money to buy down South at the moment. I’ve not gone back to work yet and the cost of childcare it doesn’t make sense for me to either.

My husband has two children who live up North. We see them twice a month at most.

We can afford to buy up North tomorrow. My husbands family are near by, we could see his children more and start a new life up there.

When I suggested this to my Mum, it was as if I’d told her I’d killed someone. Started crying over how often she’d get to see us and her granddaughter.
My parents both work full time, they have very busy lives. To put it bluntly we’re very much invisible in their home.

I personally am quite a shy person, my mental health hasn’t been great since giving birth as both myself and my daughter almost died. I’ve struggled to make new mum friends even though we get out and about but I do have some friends I can call on.

I know we could be happy up North there’s just something in my mind that’s holding me back. HELP

Why don’t you move up north for a year or two and if you don’t settle you can always move back.
