Would anyone be so kind as to share their meal ideas for a 7 month old - We are trying various finger foods and some things I am feeding DD with a spoon- im especially struggling with ideas for a nutritious lunch & find I keep going back to the old faithful cream cheese and oat cake Grin

Many thanks in advice

Some ideas for meals which you could also eat...

  • Ratatouille (mashed a bit with a fork if needed)
  • spinach and lentil dal
  • home made savoury flapjacks with cheese and grated carrot (from BLW cookbook)
  • mini carrot and cheese pancakes (grated carrot, beaten egg, flour and a bit of grated cheese)
  • courgette and pea fritters (as above but with grated courgette and cooked peas)
  • homemade gazpacho made in a blender (go easy on the raw garlic at first - I made DD smell garlicky for weeks!)
  • chicken stew with onion, tomatoes and peppers - use chicken thigh and cook it for ages so it's really soft
  • potato salad with boiled potatoes, green beans and creme fraiche/yoghurt
  • cooked spinach mixed with plain cottage cheese - on toast or in a baked potato

Eggs are great for babies lunches, omelettes can be cut up into chunks and are easy finger food, scrambled egg and toast is a very quick easy lunch too.

Why can't she just have whatever you're having?

@mizzles thanks so much these are great!!!

fin89 · 08/10/2019 23:14

@TequilaMockingbird0 well just regarding lunch I will often have a sandwich or salad and don't want to give her much of that if I can obviously apart from the veg in the salad...

fin89 · 08/10/2019 23:14

@NannyR thank you very much - I think she will be having an omelette tomorrow Grin

Why does it have to be finger food? Don't you use cutlery, or feed the baby yourself.

fin89 · 09/10/2019 22:25

@ozymandiusking yes I do we do a bit of both I did say in my post I feed her some of her meals with a spoon

I just used to give DD what we were eating unless we were out if it wasn't practical I would give her a pouch/jar of whatever. But at 7 months she liked playing with finger food and having a gum on them but didn't actually know how to eat any and the only purees she would actually eat were sweet ones. So I wouldn't worry too much!

You should download the BLW cookbook App. It’s really good for ideas and it might help you to introduce more finger food x
