I had no idea people ate dinner before 5 pre mumsnet. I think from reading these threads its a nursery thing as some feed them at 4.30?!

Growing up me and my family always ate dinner around 5.30... So I'm surprised anyone would think it's too early for a toddler Confused

My 16mo has hers at 5.30 and then goes upstairs at 6, asleep by 7.

We eat together as a family between 6-7 but DS1 (7) and DS2 (15 months) have a small tea at child minders at 4ish.

The. Bed by 7:30 for both although 7yr old often reads in bed until 8/-8:30

Before DS went to nursery it was 5-5:30 but often found he was too tired to eat, so we pulled it forwards to meet nursery time (4:30). It's only been in the last 4 months or so that we've started letting it go a bit later (5-5:30 latest) but we don't eat as a family - I tend to cook later and eat after he's in bed (7pm) as he's a notoriously fussy eater since around 2 years and the experience was just painful Grin

I tend to give him a big meal at lunchtime (12-1ish) and a smaller tea (sandwiches, scrambled egg etc) which seems to work better (in that he eats more that way).

He doesn't often complain of being hungry so seems to work for us. I am looking forward to the day we can eat together again though Grin

My LO is 1 next month she eats at 3.30 but she still has a bottle before bed

We all eat at around 6-6:15 including DD (2.4) DH usually home around 6-6.30 so nice he can usually join. In bed around 7:30, she stays in bed until 7:30-8:30am with no naps or 20 mins or so in the car.
