I'm a second time parent but feel I'm starting from scratch as my oldest is high functioning ASD and her pattern of development is very different to my 19 month old.. I would just like a little advice re the wide range of normal.. OK at the moment my 19 month says no alot by shaking her head not saying the word yet, when asked to take her shoes off she either shake her head or look at them and smile if I persevere she will work herself up into a tantrum is this the norm? Also she has 30 words acquiring a new one each day but not say mummy or Daddy mamma is rare she knows who I am if I ask her to point to mummy she will, she loves books and will point to pictures if she feels like it she can point to body parts when asked.. She inconsistent with answering yes or no either with gestures eg would you like a yoghurt she gets excited so I take it as yes if she don't want something she on sight se shake her head, she didn't point till 16 month wave till 15 months so I worry she maybe behind she was a prem by a month ..
