Just going to start by saying my GP is closed on Sunday & I'm unsure on whether it's worth ringing 111, that's why I'm asking MN.

DS is 16 months, he had a high temp (38°)
on Tuesday and went off his food. Wednesday, Thursday & Friday he didn't have a temperature but still didn't want to eat & was a bit out of sorts, although nothing major. Yesterday he seemed totally fine and we had a lovely day, we went out, he enjoyed his food etc.

I've just noticed this rash/spots this morning, there are none anywhere else... he seems fine in himself, digital ear thermometer reads 36.1. He is being his usual lovely, energetic self but after him being poorly this week I'm feeling slightly concerned.

Morning all, no new spots for DS.Confused I suppose he could have a very mild case? I think I will be taking him to the GP to be sure though.

You'll have to warn them- they need to isolate you from other patients.

Have any of them scabbed yet? Keep the spots moist with aqueous cream or similar, it stops them scabbing and scarring.

@picklemepopcorn

I phoned, explained it was a rash/chicken pox. They don't have any appointments today, so I'll just wait until tomorrow assuming DS is happy & fine.

Can I ask why ibuprofen shouldn’t be given with chicken pox?

Aaarrgghhh · 30/09/2019 19:11

Areallthegoodnamesgone It can cause serious skin infections. It’s basically not to be given unless your doctor says it’s okay. Probably best not to risk it at all, really.

My eldest was off colour for a day, got about 10 spots the following day and was completely fine the whole time. My middle one was more unwell but again not as bad as I anticipated. Piriton and calpol were great. Good luck. He’s adorable

Just a quick update for you all - the spots appear to have faded a little and there aren't anymore. I couldn't get a GP appointment today, so will wait and see. Wondering if it might be an irritation/viral rash and just coincided with him being under the weather...
