Bilingual children?

Does anyone have experience raising bilingual (or multilingual) kids?
I'm expecting my 1st and am desperate for him to grow up bilingual; definitely want to start as early as possible!
I'm thinking about the One Parent - One Language method where me and my husband would communicate with the baby each in our own native language - but would welcome any tips from anyone who has done this! X

(It's from an American perspective so not completely relevant but still interesting)

We are semi bilingual, DS is 4 at the end of the year and English is his first language, and he speaks well (has done since early on,
he was speaking in short sentences before 2).

He is however doing his education through another medium, which I also speak, and I've been speaking it to him more and more at home to reinforce it. It's amazing how quickly he's picking it up! I would hope by the end of reception (he's only just started nursery school, 2.5 hours a day) he'll be virtually bilingual.
