Somewhat unfairly, both ds1 and ds2 are going through a DEFIANCE PHASE at the same time - HELP!

DS1 is 12, so preteen. He needs to be right about EVERYTHING. He needs to have his own way about EVERYTHING. He needs to question and argue about EVERYTHING. Honestly, he will even dispute things like me saying "it's raining", it is absolutely fucking exhausting and even though I know I shouldn't engage, sometimes things just have to be done and that's that, no arguing, no discussing. But he doesn't stop. He goes on and on and on.

DS2 is 4, and so wants to do everything his own way, and it means we're discussing things like chocolate for breakfast, wearing shoes, going to the toilet, watching tv, not running across the road, not touching things he's been told not to touch (there is a LOT of that), not listening....basically he will question (or ignore) everything unless it is exactly what he wants to be doing.
I know it's a phase, but OMG it is knackering.

I am ending up shouting at both of them just to get normal things done. I hate myself, and I need to find a better way of dealing with both of them.

Any tips at all would be gratefully received!
