Hi all, I currently have 2 children with different dads, 2nd childs dad and I are debating about a 3rd. My question is whould he be able to claim child benefit for the 3rd child? Or is it 2 child per household regardless if he's 1st childs dad? I claim child benefit for both so know I would be able to for a 3rd.
Thanks

There is no limit on children for claiming child benefit. Are you thinking of tax credits/universal credit?

PotteringAlong · 22/09/2019 17:59

You get child benefit for as many children as you have.

www.gov.uk/child-benefit says

Only one person can get Child Benefit for a child.

It’s paid every 4 weeks and there’s no limit to how many children you can claim for.

You can claim, but I don't think you'll get as much for the 3rd

Eldest or only child - £20.70

Additional children- £13.70 per child

Amounts per week shown above
