Poorly baby

Baby is 4 weeks old. He has been wheezy and has been grunting as if he has been mucusy for about 2 weeks now. I took him to the see the doctor yesterday after he choked on some mucus he brought up and she said that she thinks its a viral infection. She said that he has to fight it off on his own.

Today he’s been much more sleepy and he’s quite sweaty. He won’t lay on his own and will only stop crying when being held by myself or my partner which is why he might be sweaty although his forehead feels fine, if anything, quite cool. He just doesn’t seem himself. I’m a first time mum and I’m so worried about him. Is this normal behaviour with a viral infection? How long do they take to fight off?

Do you have a thermometer? Check his temperature regularly.

Unfortunately not much can be done with a virus. It's horrible when you can't offer anything to help. Just lots of milk & cuddles.

If you feel he's getting worse always go back to GP or call 111.
