I've got to take my dd out now to the sleepover she's going to. She has come downstairs in a bright red tutu with a rainbow striped halter top and stripey tights and her hair in bunches. (Think Toni Basil.)

Should I let her go like this? Might she get self concious? She looks slightly strange and there will be five other girls there.

Do I need to but out?

She's nearly nine btw.

I need to leave in five minutes.

Yes. Send extra clothes 'in case she needs them' let her go in whatever she wants. That's what I'd do anyway.

Butt out

But take her a change of clothes so that she can change out if it if she does feel self-conscious.

And she's probably spent ages deciding to wear that, don't rain on her parade!

Ok. You're right.

Perhaps your dd could borrow one of his pink dresses next time!

Did she stay in the tutu in the end?
