Colic and gas

My little one is 8 weeks old and she has colic, she has been suffering really bad the last few days with gas well. Straining so hard she goes stiff and bright red. We have tried infacol, colif and gripe water. Two worked for a few days and then made her constipated and gripe water makes her throw up alot. Any suggestions on how to ease the pain for her? I've been doing baby massage which has helped a bit but nothing major or is it just a waiting game for her body to develop?

Has she just had her injections?

Have you taken her to a GP. I thought my 5 week old had colic, turned out to be reflux when I took him to the doctors. And he often goes bright red and stiff with discomfort and does cry a lot!

Not been to gp as she been in and out of hospital since birth with bronchiolitis. The doctor at the hospital told us that she seems to have medication for a few days and work and then its stops and that we should just leave her to it as her body still developing. But it's horrible to see her like it, although after her strain shes perfectly happy. Stays asleep and smiles lol. I think myself its acid reflux and not colic but doctor says colic.
She hasn't got her jabs till 23rd xx

Bicycle legs, rub back and stomach in circles, wait. It should get better between three and four months.

You have my sympathies! I felt like I spent the first three months of my baby's life managing his digestive system.

Switch to MAM bottles. We did this and there was an instant improvement

Charlit30 · 15/09/2019 06:27

😭It's just so horrible to watch, bless our little ones. I'm not using bottles, breast feeding and I know she probs making herself worse as she is defo teething and throwing her head around and waving her arms at that so she sucking in more air.
Thanks everyone, I guess were just have to keep soothing her best we can till it sorts itself out as there seems to be no other remedies x

Are you breast or bottle feeding? I always advise people to consider cows milk protein allergy. My son was like this and I was at my wit's end. We tried everything with no improvement, until I cut all dairy from my diet. He was a different boy!

Charlit30 · 15/09/2019 07:07

I'm breastfeeding, I've cut out all dairy and caffeine about 2 weeks ago.
Baby massage seems to be the only thing helping a little bit atm. I just wondered if anyone else had any other remedies that could help a bit more lol.
Roll on her little body getting used to digesting as it's so horrible to watch and not be able to help 😔

My daughter has cows milk protein allergy and it can take 6 weeks to go from both of your systems, so keep it in the back of your mind.

What about tongue tie? It makes babies suck in lots of air. I had 6 professionals check my daughter before the 7th diagnosed her.

Have a look on YouTube for videos of how to release wind in babies. I seem to remember that legs over head was one. I would definitely take her to the gp to discuss your concerns.

I've got her jabs on the 23rd so I will ask them more about it. Poor little one.
I will check out you tubeSmile
Thanks

I’m assuming she has been on antibiotics and that can have a massive impact on their digestive systems.
