My DD is 2year 2 months, trying to potty train but she has just done another wee on the carpet, 5 seconds after she had said that she didn't need to use the potty. It's so frustrating....I need to scream!! She has all the signs that she is ready; she is dry for long periods of time; tells you when she has done a wee/poo; she has been dry at night for a couple of months and does a wee on the potty/toilet first thing in the morning and at times during the day if i ask her. I can't be doing with the cleaning up...will she get better? should I perservere or wait longer?

I think I'd leave it. But then, none of mine were dry before 3.5 years old. I tried to potty train my dd2 when she was about 2.5 and initially it went well, then deteriorated. I gave myself (and her) lots of grief until I relaxed about it. In the end it was less hassle to deal with nappies than mopping up wees!

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I managed to potty DS at 2 + 4m. He did have loads of accidents and we actually spent days at home as I wasn't brave enough to venture out without a nappy. He did eventually get it though and I'm glad I stuck with it. I think it just causes more confusion if you start and stop, especially if all the signs that she is ready are there. My DS is still wearing a nappy at night time. He did get up with a dry nappy yesterday morning and an almost empty nappy this morning so we are getting there slowly!

Oh Yeah, forgot to add, I read somewhere that if you sprinly cat litter onto the wee, let it dry and then hoover it up, you are left with no smell and no wee!

Spanna - 2.2 is quite early, isn't it? Personally, i think i would geive it a rest for a couple of months. you may find that she then asks for a potty. I know the general wisdom is as Kid says, not to start and stop, but I started and stopped, and then there was a point where DS just said 'I'm going to use a potty now', and did.

How long have you been trying? If a week or more, leave it. if less, keep trying for a few more days.

I did Ds at 2.7 months, the first week was bad, then after about 5 days, bingo it just clicked. So maybe stick with it abit more, afterall it must be difficult, learning new tricks if you've just been weeing in your pants since you were born!

If you buy really cheap kitchen roll and blot the carpet completely dry, it'll take all the liquid/smell up and then just spray a bit of fabreze down for good measures.
