Got a rucksack with strap thingy from Woolies today. DS has become increasingly prone to runing off and I have dd in pushchair as well so needed some way to keep him safe in busy places/ near roads. He was 3 on sunday but is very big (and fast) for his age.

I hate using it as it makes me feel like I cannot control my son and have to resort to strapping him down He loves it and pretended to be a horse all day while refusing to hold my hand.

Will I get over myself?

I was very clear that i wouldn't have reins for DS, then my mum brought him back from a trip out wearing some she'd bought him.

I had to admit that he loves them.

We shall both just have to get over ourselves!

I suppose so Jeremy especially now dd is old enough to want to be out of the buggy as well now (16m) before I know it I am going to have 2 kids on reigns - I might as well buy some rollerskates and take the dc's for a run down the beach (as in bodyform ad)

I had this with ds - I found reins far too much hassle (had those leather ones with buckles in 1950s stylie) but ds adored them. He did the horse thing too.

I have the opposite problem. I really want to use reins, but my dd just won't have them.

Dd has a furry 'tail' reign that comes from a monkey backpack. She loves it and wears it around the house insisting I hold the tail. I have been very reluctant to use it but I do like her to walk as much as possible and she is not into hand holding. Jill
